Here are some helpful tips about washing acne skin areas. When washing your face, always tie your hair back, as hair carries dirt and bacteria, which may exacerbate an acne condition. Wearing spectacles, can also harbour dirt, so these should be removed and washed also. Bangles and jewelry, should also be removed. All soaps, face washes, towels and anything else that you use to wash the areas of acne, should be personal to you and not shared with anyone else. Towels, face flannels, and brushes should be cleaned everyday.
Use a face wash, or soap that is suitable for your skin type. A good idea, is to use a soap that is specifically designed for the face, and a different soap, which is specifically deigned for the body. If you have dry skin, then try cleaning your face with water only. If you have sensitive skin, then use a product which is designed for that type of skin. If you find that the soap or face wash aggravates your skin, then try a more gentle product. Washing the acne areas too much, can aggravate the skin, so limit washing to twice a day. If you wear make-up, then the area should be washed once to remove the make-up, followed by a second wash to cleanse the skin. Make-up should always be removed before going to bed, as it will affect an acne condition, and may aggravate the skin.
Before starting to clean an acne area, wash your hands first. Then, gently wet the area with warm water to open the pores. Put a small amount of the cleanser or soap on to your hands, and work up into a good lather, with your hands. This can then be applied to the face, using the fingers to remove any dirt, sweat and grease. Then rinse the area with cooler water, to close the pores, avoiding the eyes. Gently pat the skin dry with a clean personal towel.
There is a face brush, which works rather like an electric toothbrush, which can be used to help clean the face. It gently removes, any residual dirt, sweat and grease, after washing the area in the normal way.
