About Us - Information about the People Behind TalkAcne

DEBORAH MASON - MANAGING DIRECTOR

My name is Deborah Mason and TalkHealth Partnership Ltd was created by me in October 2000. I live in Hampshire, UK, with my husband Mark and two daughters Sophie who is 12 and Alice who is 9.

I started the first web site www.talkeczema.com because Alice developed atopic eczema at the age of only 5 months and I needed others to talk to. Eczema was devastating for both her and the rest of our family.

Eczema is not only a physical problem but it plays havoc with your emotions too. That's why I started TalkAcne in 2005 - because, just like with eczema, there wasn't much of a support network out there for young people and adults living with acne.

The effects of acne can be distressing as it visible for all to see. Like any other skin condition, acne patients will have to cope with flare ups brought on by any number of things, eg stress, food, environment, hormonal changes etc. The emotional issues associated with acne must never be under-estimated.

TalkAcne offers visitors a place to come to find information about products and possible treatments, read articles, and talk with like minded people who are also experiencing some of the same physical and emotional issues.

When I started the TalkHealth group of sites, nearly 9 years ago I never imagined that so many people would visit the sites and it would be the huge resource it is today. Nor did I ever imagine that TalkEczema would lead to a group of support and information web sites for other health conditions too. Over the last few years I have realised that there are many thousands of people out there, just like me, who need support and help. So I hope you find that help within these sites.

Best wishes
Deborah Mason
